Bonnie Bell Olson, age 87, died Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Ava’s House in Sioux Falls, SD.  Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2023 at Anderson Funeral Home in Canton, SD. Family will greet visitors one hour prior to the service.

        Bonnie was born on August 19, 1935 in Harrisburg, SD to William and Mina (Hendrix) Detmers.    She married Harold M. Olson on September 27, 1952 at Canton Lutheran Church.  She graduated from Canton High School in 1956.   In addition to raising her family, Bonnie was the bookkeeper at A & R  grocery store for many years.

        Bonnie was a nurturing, God-loving woman who cared deeply for her family.  She was an organizer, an excellent cook, and always had a smile on her face.  She enjoyed following her kids and grandchildren’s activities, spending time with her siblings, and reading.  She will be remembered for her Sunday family meals and humming to herself at nearly all times. She was a former WELCA member.

        Bonnie is survived by her sons, Conrad (Melanie) Olson and Stephen Olson; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; sisters-in-law, Nellie Detmers and Karen Detmers; along with many extended relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; daughter-in-law, Jackie Olson; brothers, Larry Detmers and Wayne Detmers; and sisters, Betty Kock and Laurelle “Cookie” Collinge.
