Service: His memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 8, at Canton United Methodist Church.

Torrance Bankson, 82, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Villa St. Francis nursing facility in Olathe, KS.  His memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 8, at Canton United Methodist Church.  A visitation with family present will be Sunday, April 7, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Canton.  andersonandsonsfh.com

Torrance was born August 31, 1930 in Canton, SD to Thomas and Emma (Brurud) Bankson, and attended school in Canton, graduating in 1948.  He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  Torrance married Delores Green January 28, 1956 in Canton, where they made their home.  He was employed at John Morrell and Company for 30 years.   Torrance was a member of Canton United Methodist Church, Canton Optimist Club, and VFW.  He was a home handyman who could fix just about anything, and also enjoyed hunting and fishing.  Following his wife’s death in 2012, Torrance had lived in Villa St. Francis in Olathe, KS to be near his son.

He is survived by his son Doug, his wife Nanci, (Olathe, KS) and two grandchildren, Connor and Kayla. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Delores.
