She was baptized at West Prairie Lutheran Church and confirmed at Canton Lutheran Church with Proverbs 23:26 as her confirmation verse.  Shirley was a dedicated member of Redemer Free Lutheran Church, Canton at the time of her passing.

She attended Cottage Grove rural school, graduated from Canton High School in 1951, and attended business school in Sioux City before beginning work for Standard Oil in Huron. From 1953 to 1974, Shirley worked for the Lincoln County Department of Agriculture (ASCS) in Canton.

Always enjoyed Bible studies with Shirley and Laura at CLC. They both knew the importance of the Bible and taught me so much.
