Ronald Gordy

December 4, 1955 - April 27, 2023

Service: A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 4th at Forest Hill Cemetery, Canton, SD. A Celebration of Ron’s Life will begin at 4:00 p.m. Thursday at Boondocks Bar in Worthing, SD. 

Ronald Eugene Gordy, age 67, died Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Good Samaritan Society Sioux Falls Village.  A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 4th at Forest Hill Cemetery, Canton, SD. A Celebration of Ron’s Life will begin at 4:00 p.m. Thursday at Boondocks Bar in Worthing, SD.

          Ronald was born on December 4, 1955 in Canton, SD to Leuis and Helen (Armstrong) Gordy.  He grew up and attended school in Canton.  Through the years Ron worked a variety of jobs, most recently driving truck.  Ron loved his animals, his family and the St. Louis Rams.  He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his willingness to give a helping hand and being a corndog maker.

          Ronald is survived by his sisters, Mona (John) Gorman and Rhonda Gordy (Nancy Stonefield- a dear friend Ron considered as a sister); aunt, Pearl World; nieces and nephews, Lesley (Scott) Windham, Helen (Matt) Miller, Chris (Carsa) Crawford, Cari Andera, and Jessica Gorman (Jason Ruud); 11 great nieces and nephews; and numerous great-great nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Leland Gordy.

    Uncle Ron was an amazing man. Always so caring and generous. He would literally give you all he had and not blink an eye. He was such an Animal lover, I remember he rescued a dog that grew up not so friendly but he just kept saying ” He’s not mean, just misunderstood.”
