Visitation: Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Canton. A Scripture Service will begin at 7:00 p.m. at St. Dominic’s.

Service: Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Sioux Falls.

Canton.  Ronald A. Eiesland, 78, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls.  His Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Sioux Falls.  Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Canton.  A Scripture Service will begin at 7:00 p.m. at St. Dominic’s.

          Ronald Archie Eiesland was born November 19, 1936 on a farm near Inwood, IA, to Olaf and Gladys (Huckfeldt) Eiesland.  He attended country school and graduated from Canton High School in 1954.  He farmed with his father until his death in 1956.  He continued to farm in the Canton area, many years with his sister’s family.  Ron served in the South Dakota Air National Guard for 6 years.  He was a member of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church and currently a member of Holy Spirit in Sioux Falls.  An avid sports fan, Ron was a member of the Sioux Sports Club and attended many University of Sioux Falls and Augustana College sporting events.

          Ron is survived by his sister, Maureen (Gerrit) VanDenTop, Sioux Falls and nephew, Jason (Jaci) VanDenTop and their children Anthony, Alyssa, Derek, and Cecelia, all of Canton, SD.  He was preceded in death by his parents.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to USF or Augustana College.

    My sincere sympathy to Ron’s loved ones. I highly valued Ron’s friendship and enjoyed sitting at the Augie basketball games with him. He was thoughtful, generous, and caring, and I am grateful I knew him.

    So sorry to hear of Ron’s passing. I have fond memories of him from church years ago. He always had a compliment for me for my singing or playing. Never forget God’s great promise of Eternal Life! We will all meet again.
