Roger Edward Vandemore was born on October 22, 1941 to Robert E. and Norma R. (Homandberg) Vande More in the Hudson, SD hospital.  Roger went to West Branch Country School through 8th grade.  He graduated from Hudson High School in 1959 and attended Southern State Teachers College (Springfield, SD) for 2 years.

During his college years, he met Maxine Wegehaupt.  They married on October 11, 1962.  To their union three children were born: Twila, Lisa and Ryan.

Roger worked many construction seasons and weathered many winters during his tenure with the South Dakota Department of Transportation from 1963 to 1997.

As an adult, Roger lived in Harrisburg, Sioux Falls, and rural Canton, SD.  He moved to the farm west of Canton in 1972 and enjoyed 50 years of farm life.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Maxine; daughters, Twila (Mike) Perkinson of Sioux Falls and Lisa (Reese) Baier of Sioux Falls; and son Ryan (Janel) Vandemore of Canton.  For 26 years, he was blessed to be “Pa” to his grandchildren, Kate Perkinson, Emma (Noah Richard) Perkinson, Hannah Baier, Seth Baier, Remington Vandemore, and Henry Vandemore.  He also had many memories with his five siblings, Tim Vandemore, Peggy  Baughfman, Julie (Craig) Wegner, Janice (Duane) VanEgdom, Michael “Goober” Vandemore and his many extended relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Todd.

    To Roger’s family:
I am the widow of one of Roger’s DOT employees. Joe spoke very highly of Roger during the time they worked together and after they both retired. I know that they are playing shenanigans on each other again. Keep the faith!
