Randy L. Myers, age 67, died Thursday, May 28, 2026 at Sanford Vermillion Medical Center.  Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Romsdal Lutheran Church, rural Hudson, SD.  Family will greet visitors one hour prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Romsdal Lutheran Church or Romsdal Lutheran Cemetery.

Randy was born on September 7, 1958 to Loren and Arlene (Curell) Myers in Canton, SD.  He lived on the family farm north of Beresford, SD with his parents and brothers.  In 1966, he was admitted to the Redfield Hospital and School.  In 1985, he moved to Vermillion to receive services from SESDAC.  June 18th would have marked his 41st year as part of the SESDAC family.

Over the years Randy was active with Special Olympics, participating in activities including bowling and track and field.  He enjoyed fishing, basketball, picnics, walks, eating out, and going for “coffee” at Hy-Vee.  He especially loved ice cream, music, dancing, doing the YMCA, and having things in their proper place.  Even when he became unable to walk or stand, he would smile and groove from his chair.  Randy will be remembered for always being a friendly, happy soul who often gave a thumbs-up to show his joy for life.  He has been a member of Romsdal Lutheran Church since 1958.

Randy is survived by his brother, Alan (Dalyce) Myers; nephews, James (Rhonda) Myers and Bret (Tracy) Myers; niece, Tami (Mike) Ellis; great-niece, Molly (Mike) Stettnichs-Myers; great-nephew, Dylan Ellis; great-great nephew, Loren Stettnichs-Myers; aunt, Beverly Myers; many cousins; and his “special family” at SESDAC.  He was preceded in death by his parents Loren Sr. and Arlene and brother Loren Dean Jr.

The family extends its deepest gratitude to Randy’s family at SESDAC for their care and love for the past 40 years.

    Randy’s Family,
My thoughts for peace and comfort go out to all of you.
I have known Randy for over 26 years. I assisted him to his Dr.’s appts for all of those years. It was always an adventure with him which I thoroughly enjoyed! His “High 5’s” were the best, and brought a smile to my face and heart over the years. He will be missed here at Sesdac.
