Visitation: Visitation will be Friday from 2-8 p.m., with family present 6-8 p.m., at Anderson Funeral Home in Canton.

Service: Memorial services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21 at Canton Lutheran Church, Canton, SD. A private family burial will be held prior to the service at Forest Hill Cemetery.

Pearl Hill, age 87, died Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at the Inn on Westport, Sioux Falls, SD.  Memorial services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21 at Canton Lutheran Church, Canton, SD.  A private family burial will be held prior to the service at Forest Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday from 2-8 p.m., with family present 6-8 p.m., at Anderson Funeral Home in Canton. 
 Pearl was born May 17, 1924 in rural Freeman, SD to Arthur and Mary (Anderson) Sorenson.  She graduated from Viborg High School in 1942.  She married Normand Hill on October 9, 1942 in Reno, NV.  The couple lived in California, Yankton, SD, and moved to Canton, SD in 1947. 
 Pearl worked for Otis Radio, Trumm Pharmacy, and K-Products.  Pearl was known for her Christmas candy, rhubarb pie, and loved having family over for big meals.  She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and tending to her flowers.  She was a member of Canton Lutheran Church, VFW Auxiliary, and Canton RSVP. 
 Grateful for having shared Pearl’s life are her sons: Ronald (Kathy), Canton, SD and Gerald (Karen), Tucson, AZ; daughters: Charolyn Hoogendoorn, Sioux Falls, SD, Janette Spreckels, Chamberlain, SD, and Jeanne (Jan) Norton, Phoenix, AZ; sister: Bernice (LuVerne) Christensen, Pierre, SD; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, brother Lorrimore Sorenson, and grandsons Scott Hill and Gary Hoogendoorn.

    To all of Pearl’s family – sorry to hear of your loss – many fond memories of being at your home during our high school years – and the smell of fresh bread on Saturday mornings after a sleep over on Friday.
