One of my favorites from the memory bank; Dad & Francis were combing in the field east of the barn and when they finished both trucks were at the east fence line, one loaded… one not… to save time dad put Lynn in our empty truck /dad had Francis’s truck which was loaded (and a dog!). Dad put ours in a low gear, set the throttle up let the clutch out and told Lynn to drive for the barn…he would meet him before he got to the barn. Well dad set the throttle a little too fast, Lynn got a good head start and dad got a little too far behind he caught up to him just before Lynn drove into the barn, dad jumped out of the truck ran over to Lynn’s got the door open reached in and turned the key off then fell to the ground gasping for air. The whole time Lynn was yelling at dad “get me out—I’m not driving again! Dad said when I got my wind back I told him you got that right!! Francis said Lynn walked all the way to the house he was so mad he wouldn’t take a ride from dad.
my sympathy to you and all of Lynn’s family and friends
