Leona Loger

     Leona Loger, 91, passed away Friday, March 30, 2018, at her home in Canton.  Her memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 5, at Canton Lutheran Church.

    Leona Gladys Loger was born February 12, 1927 on a farm near Mt. Vernon, SD to Herman and Martha (Bialas) Sperlich.  Leona married Richard Loger in August 24, 1946.  They made their home in Sioux Falls and Minneapolis, MN.  She was a stay at home mom until her husband became disabled. Her husband died in 1984.  Leona moved to Canton following her retirement.  She loved to dance, especially polka.  She will be greatly missed by her children and grandchildren.

     Those grateful for having shared her life are- her daughters, Shirley Temple, Gloria (Tom) Wellman, and Deb (Tom Rager) Simunek all of Canton; 11 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Luetta Tausch, Canton.  Leona was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two daughters, Darlene Gronskei and Betty Warwick, son-in-law, John Temple, her sister, Mildred McClung, brother, Norbert Sperlich, a great-grandson, Justin Peterson, and a great-great-granddaughter, Samantha Hartley.

    So very sorry to hear this sad news. Leona was always such a nice lady. She will be missed by many. We know that words cannot take away the pain, but please know there are so many keeping you in their thoughts and prayers. Hold tight to all the memories shared.
