Kent Fossum

April 16, 1967 - March 28, 2022

Visitation: Visitation, with family present, will be Sunday from 1-3 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Canton.  A prayer service will begin at 2:00 p.m.

Service: Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 4th at Grand Valley Lutheran Church in Canton, SD.

Kent Martin Fossum, age 54, died Monday, March 28, 2022.  Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 4th at Grand Valley Lutheran Church in Canton, SD.  Visitation, with family present, will be Sunday from 1-3 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Canton.  A prayer service will begin at 2:00 p.m.

Kent was born on April 16, 1967 in Canton, SD to Kenneth and Mavis (Severson) Fossum.  He grew up in Canton, graduating from Canton High School in 1986.  He later attended mechanic’s school in Canby, MN.   Kent was united in marriage to Tammy Hrouda.  His daughter Brooke was born to this union.  He later married Jill Ballinger.

Kent traveled the country working for a custom harvester before working as a mechanic for several area businesses.  In his spare time, Kent enjoyed NASCAR, plinking, playing pool and darts, and tinkering on engines in his garage.  He also loved cooking and smoking meats, especially pork loins and bacon.

Kent is survived by his daughter, Brooke; brothers, Steve (Pat), Dave (Dorothy), James (Linda) and Jeff (June); uncle, Paul (Karen) Severson; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 infant children, and dog, Milo.

    Kent was always quiet and a dependable friend in school and outside of school.
    A strong FFA student member.
    We used to share music too.
