Service: Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 3, 2023 at Springdale Lutheran Church, rural Sioux Falls, SD. 

Joyce Jonnes, age 89, died peacefully Monday, March 27, 2023 at the Sanford Hospice Foundation Cottage.  Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 3, 2023 at Springdale Lutheran Church, rural Sioux Falls, SD.  Family will greet visitors one hour prior to the service.

Joyce was born on July 12, 1933 in Hetland, SD to Gerhard and Irma (Junker) Hersrud.  She graduated from Hudson High School.  She married Walter Jonnes on March 1, 1953.  The couple farmed until 1968 when they moved to Harrisburg, SD. Joyce worked in housekeeping at McKennan Hospital from 1976 until her retirement.

Joyce was a longtime member of Springdale Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed gardening, shopping, being outdoors, ceramics, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Grateful for sharing her life are her sons, Ray (Diane), Harrisburg, SD, and Jim (Jackie) Quapaw, OK; daughters, Lila McKinnon and Sheryl (Dan) Brown, all of Sioux Falls, SD; 12 grandchildren: Jessica, Melissa, Josh, Jennifer, Chuck, Sam, Isaac, Adam, Christina, Jeremey, Jaycey, and Journey; 8 great-grandchildren; along with numerous extended relatives and friends.   She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Walter; her parents; son, Donny; granddaughter, Chasidy; and brothers and sisters.
