Visitation: Visitation will be Friday from 2-8 p.m., family present 6-8 p.m., at Anderson Funeral Home in Canton.

Service: Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 25 at the River of Life Church in Canton, SD with burial to follow in the Larchwood Cemetery.

Larchwood, IA-  Joel Stevens, age 74, passed away Sunday, Feb.  19, 2012 at the Sioux Falls VA Medical Center.  Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 25 at the River of Life Church in Canton, SD with burial to follow in the Larchwood Cemetery.   Visitation will be Friday from 2-8 p.m., family present 6-8 p.m., at Anderson Funeral Home in Canton.

          Joel was born April 28, 1937 at Slayton, MN to James E. and Lorraine (Yantzi) Stevens.  He attended school in Iona, MN and Strandberg, SD before attending Washington High School in Sioux Falls.  Following graduation in 1955, he joined the US Air Force and later the South Dakota Air National Guard, serving his country for 32 years.

          Joel married Lorna Grotewold July 2, 1966 in Sioux Falls.  The couple lived in the Larchwood area their entire married life.  He loved his family and enjoyed working on cars. He built his own home in 1976. 

          His survived by his wife Lorna; daughters- Lorie Stevens-Hudson and Lisa Stevens (Matt Levene) both of Larchwood, IA; 5 grandchildren- Blayke Stevens, Amanda Gardner, Cheyenne Hudson, Mikayla Hudson, and Tristan Hudson; and 4 step-grandchildren- Maxxwell, Alexander, Cheyenne, and Chevy Levene.
