Joan K. Morck

February 24, 1948 - January 31, 2024

           Joan K. Morck, age 75, died Wednesday, January 31, 2024 surrounded by her family at Sanford Foundation Cottage.  A visitation, with family present, will be Wednesday, February 7, 2024 from 5-7 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home, Canton, SD.

          Joan was born on February 24, 1948 in Mitchell, SD to Jasper and Ruth (Taylor) Vanderlugt.  She graduated from Washington High School in 1967.  She later attended Southeast Area Tech.  She married Roger Morck on October 19, 1968.  The couple lived in Sioux Falls before moving to Canton in 1975.

          In addition to raising her three boys, she babysat and worked at K-Products and Dairy Queen.  She enjoyed crocheting, reading, flowers, and collecting lighthouses.  She also cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

          Joan is survived by her sons, Daniel, Dominick Sr. (Alicia) and Dana (Aly); grandchildren, Scarlett (Tyler), Dominick Jr. (Whittney), and Destiny (Camron); great-grandchildren, Braxton, Karston, and Cassidy; brother, Ed Schultz; sisters, Janie Vanderlugt and Mary (John) Wise; along with numerous extended relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 49 years, Roger; grandson, Sean; brother, Gary; and sister, Lori.
