Jeanine Abrahamson, age 92, died peacefully Friday, May 23, 2025 at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD. A visitation, with family present, will be Saturday, May 31, 2025 from 2-4 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Canton, SD.
Jeanine was born on December 4, 1932 in Anderson, MO to Robert and Mamie (Meador) Bell. She grew up and attended school in Missouri. She lived in Hawaii for a short time before meeting Richard E. Abrahamson in California. They were married on July 8, 1956 in California and made their home in Presho, SD. Through the years, they moved several times before buying an acreage north of Hartford, SD. After Richard’s death in 2002, she lived in Canton, Lennox, and Sioux Falls.
In addition to raising her 6 children, she enjoyed reading and taught Sunday School. She loved her family deeply and was very protective of them.
Jeanine is survived by her children, Connie (Ben) Schmidt-Gibbens, Kathy (Gary) Hoffman, Vickie Abrahamson, Alan (Sara) Abrahamson, Bill Abrahamson, and Bob (Lisa) Abrahamson; grandchildren, Justin (Lisa) Hoffman, Rachel (Blake) Johnson, Jessica (Markel) Harris, Chelsea Schmidt, Aaron (Alyssa) Hoffman, Thomas (Amber) Abrahamson, Austin (Catilyn) Abrahamson, Matthew Abrahamson, and Alex Trippler; 12 great-grandchildren; along with numerous extended relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; twin sisters, Alpha and Omega; twin sister, Jackie; sisters, Marilyn and Helen; and brothers, Bill, Richard, and Bob.

Jeanine will be dearly missed by not only the staff but the residents too at Luther manor. She always had a smile and a little wave for everyone that went by her. All that met her fell in love with her and her smile she was a wonderful lady that hated going to restorative therapy but I did manage to get her there when most couldn’t. To her family you are all in our thoughts and prayers Jeanine loved you all so so much.

Condolences to all left behind. She will be missed. Remembering all thr times Aunt Jeanie came to see mom, sister, Helen. They called every week to talk. I have saved all my aunt’s letters she sent me the last several years. Always showed love and we always checked each other’s weather! I will miss our phone calls. Bless you Auntie!
