Allen was born on March 30, 1928 to Stephen and Hilda (Eidsness) Paulson in rural Lincoln County, SD.  They owned and operated the Norway Center Store and Allen grew up and was educated in the community.  He graduated from Augustana Academy in Canton and served in the Army during the Korean War.
He married his high school sweetheart, Joyce Adamson, on October 20, 1950 at Renner Lutheran Church.  They owned and operated the store until he began working at John Morrell in Sioux Falls, where he was employed for thirty years.  After his retirement, he worked for OP Trucking and Hunting Elevator in Canton.
Allen enjoyed driving his 1929 Ford Model A and was a member of the Model A Car Club.  Sports were a lifelong interest, and he especially enjoyed watching his sons and grandchildren participate.  He also spent time woodworking.  He was a member of the Sons of Norway.  Allen and Joyce enjoyed playing Pinochle with their close friends.  Allen’s faith was very important to him and he served his church in many ways during his life.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 60 years, Joyce; his daughter, Julie Paulson, Sioux Falls; his three sons, Dr. Brad Paulson and his wife, Lisa, Sioux Falls, Michael Paulson and his wife, Dawn, Topeka, KS, and David Paulson and his wife, Dr.Nicole Grossenburg, Temple, TX; his six grandchildren, Dan, Nate, Kara, Scott, Haley, and Alex Paulson.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
