Harry Eidsness, age 88, died Saturday, April 4, 2026 at Good Samaritan Society Canton. Private family services will be held.
Harry was born on April 24, 1937 in Hudson, SD to Thomas and Hazel (Lundstrom) Eidsness. He attended school in Hudson, graduating from Hudson High School in 1955. He later attended Southeast Vo-Tech. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He married Diane Schultz on July 15, 1978. The couple made their home on an acreage near Canton, SD.
In addition to farming, Harry worked for McCord’s for many years. Harry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing baseball in Hudson and softball in Sioux Falls. He also loved dogs, especially his dog, Rosie. He was a member of the Worthing Legion.
Harry is survived by his step-children, Jay (Lee) Travis, Jerry (Bab) Travis, David Travis, Sandy (Mike) Whitcher, and Holly (Scott) Henderson; daughter-in law, Marcene Travis; brother-in-law, Ed Meyer; 17 step-grandchildren, 14 step- great-grandchildren; along with numerous extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Dianne; his parents; sister, Betty Meyer; step-son, Tony Travis, daughter-in-law, Tammy Travis, and step-granddaughter, Kali Snow Travis.

So sorry to hear about Harry’s passing. I always enjoyed being around him and his laugh and smile were great. It was fun seeing him at the Wheel on Tuesday nights and his love of the music inspired us!
