Visitation: Visitation will be Sunday from 2-6 p.m., family present 4-6 p.m., at Anderson Funeral Home in Canton.

Service: Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 9 at Canton Lutheran Church.

Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 9 at Canton Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-6 p.m., family present 4-6 p.m., at Anderson Funeral Home in Canton.
Gladys was born on March 14, 1928 in Canton, SD to Ole and Anna Marie (Holdahl) Braaten. She grew up in Canton, graduating from Canton High School in 1946. She married Vince McKenney on September 23, 1955 in Canton, SD.
Gladys worked at Farmers State Bank as a teller/bookkeeper for 10 years. In addition to raising the couples 4 children, she was involved in WELCA, V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, helped with funeral lunches, was a nursery helper, and answered phones for McKenney Construction. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and baking pies and cookies. She loved cats and enjoyed sending out cards.
Grateful for sharing her life are her husband of 60 years, Vince, Canton, SD; children, Douglas (Sherry) McKenney, Canton, SD, Linda (Robert) Herman, Canton, SD, Rodney McKenney, Canton, SD, and Laura (James) Tommeraasen, Renner, SD; grandchildren, Ryan McKenney, Evan McKenney, Amanda (Josh) Smith, and Stephanie (Devon) Johnson; step-grandsons, Robert, Jared, and Kurt Tommeraasen; great- grandchildren, Lydia Smith and Noah Johnson; along with numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Nels and John.

    I remember even as a child Gladys would always take the time to talk to me and listen.As i got older she never forgot me chatted with me whenever we ran into each other she was a wonderful woman wife and mother she will be missed prayers and thoughts sent to the Mckenny family from The Homandberg and Summey families

    You’re mother was one of the kindest people I have known. As Linda’s college roommate (especially our freshman year, when I was so far from home) she always made me feel welcomed. Linda & family, I am so sorry for your loss.
