Erv was born on February 28, 1938 in Nobles County, MN to Henry and Hermina (Meester) Mulder. He grew up in Magnolia, MN before moving to Baltic, SD during his senior year of high school. He graduated from Baltic High School in 1956 and moved back to Minnesota shortly thereafter. He moved to Canton, SD in 1964 when he was named the plant supervisor at Bid-Well. After leaving Bid-Well, he began trucking. When he wasn’t working, Erv enjoyed auctioneering with his brother, Stretch, fishing with his brother, Ron, and driving around the countryside looking for a good deal on machinery.
Erv served his country as a member of the MN Army National Guard. He also served his community as a 26 plus year member of the Canton-Inwood Volunteer Ambulance. In addition, he was always willing to lend a hand or help those down on their luck. Erv will be remembered as a hardworking, even-tempered man who loved his family, friends, and the simple things in life.
Erv is survived by his children, Craig (Mary) Mulder, Kent (Patty) Mulder, and Kari Mulder; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; brother, Duane “Stretch” Mulder; sister-in-law, Betty Mulder; along with numerous extended family and friends. Sorry to hear of Erv’s passing. He was a good neighbor to our family when he first moved to Canton a good friend for many years after that. Was always willing to help with things he could do. Always had a dry sense of humor to keep one thinking of what he said. He was never in a hurry but always got things done. Again, so sorry for your loss of your father.
Sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed chatting with Erv. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
