DuWayne Curtis Olseth, age 63, died unexpectedly Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at his home.
DuWayne was born on September 9, 1955 in Sioux Falls, SD and grew up on a farm near Canton. He attended grade school at York Country School and graduated from Canton High School in 1974.
For several years, he worked for the City of Canton in the Street department until he became an over the road truck driver. He liked traveling on the open road and drove truck for many years until problems with his eyesight caused him to take a job within the plant at Bidwell.
DuWayne was married in 1976 and had two daughters of this union. He enjoyed many outdoor activities including camping, hunting, fishing, and golf, which he taught his daughters to appreciate as well. He spent many weekends fishing and relaxing at his camping spot at Platte river. When he wasn’t at the river, he could be found socializing with his friends uptown, watching the Vikings game as an avid fan, or enjoying a cup of coffee with his buddy Roger Crawford over the weekend. In his younger days, he was a member of the Canton Jaycees and played on their softball team.
He is preceded in death by his special friend, Dana Larsgaard, brother Marvin Olseth, brother-in-law Doug Kroger, and his parents. He is survived by his two daughters, Lindsey (Ryan) Matzen, Tea, SD, Cammi (Sean) Lawrence, Mount Pleasant, WI; five grandchildren Gage, Jaylee, Caliana, Kingston, and Kannon; brothers Darrell (Bev) Olseth, Salt Lake City, UT, Doug (Paulette) Olseth, Canton, SD; Lynn Olseth, Yankton, SD, and sister Barb Kroger, Canton, SD along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 9th at Anderson Funeral Home in Canton. Family will greet visitors one hour prior to the service.

Paulette, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I am praying for comfort and peace for you and your family.
Lindsey and Cammi:
Our hearts are with you, never easy to lose a parent, especially one so young and looking forward to fishing and retirement. DuWayne lived life the way he wanted, and he had many friends to socialize with at any given time. As he left this world on his next journey, rest assured he knew you both cared for him and loved him. This has been a hard year for you both losing so many loved ones in a short period of time. Embrace this life as all who have gone before you would want you to and never have any regrets over circumstances you have no control over.
Love you both so much. Aunt Sandi and Uncle Dennis.
So sorry for your loss many prayers from me to your family. God Bless..
