Duane Gunderson, 64, passed away unexpectedly Friday, March 17, 2017 in LaCrosse, WI. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Canton. A private burial will be held at the Lutheran Cemetery near Canton.
Duane was born November 2, 1952 in Sioux Falls, SD to Darrell and Gladys (Johnson) Gunderson . He attended school in Canton, graduating in 1971. He later graduated from South Dakota State University. He worked for Maintenance Engineering, Kmart, and sold insurance in Sioux Falls before working at Menards. He transferred to Menards in Onalaska, WI, where he was currently working. Duane enjoyed boating on the Mississippi River and restoring cars.
He is survived by two sisters, Judy Florell, Sioux Falls, SD and Susan Gunderson, Panora, IA; one brother, Ronald Florell, LaPlata, MD; nieces- Amy (Don) Alliss, Panora, IA, Cindy Halma, Chesapeake, VA, and Kerry Dyresen, San Diego, CA; and nephew, Sean Faust. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Wendy.
Grew up with Duane, have many memories from playing baseball to just hanging out with him. I also got to share his excitement when he restored his Jaguar cannot remember the year (1952) I believe. Great guy, To Young!
