Dorothy “Dotty” L. Anderson

September 25, 1925 - February 25, 2021

Visitation: Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home. The family requests masks be worn. 

Service: Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm. Monday, March 1, at Redeemer Free Lutheran Church in Canton, SD. The family requests masks be worn.

Dorothy “Dotty” L. Anderson, age 95, passed away Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Good Samaritan Society Canton.  Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm. Monday, March 1, at Redeemer Free Lutheran Church in Canton, SD.  Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home.  The family requests masks be worn.  A link to the livestream of the service can be found at www.andersonandsonsfh.com

          Dotty was born on September 25, 1925 in Canton, SD to Orlando Tilford and Lydia (Millie) Frislie.  She was baptized and confirmed at Canton Lutheran Church.  After graduating from Canton High School in 1943, she worked at the SD Public Service Office until 1944.  Dotty attended USD from 1944-1947 and returned to Canton to work at Canton Apparel until 1948.  She also worked at Iowa Public Service from 1948 – 1950.  On June 21, 1948 she married Don Anderson.

          Her family was the joy of her life.  She enjoyed bible studies, coffee with friends, playing Mahjong and bridge, and visiting with friends.  She was member of Redeemer Free Lutheran Church.

          She is survived by her children: Marcia (Dave) Earll, John (Peg) Anderson,  and Gary Anderson, all of Canton, SD; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Brad (Jill)  Earll and their children Brooklyn, Madison and Elizabeth,  Becky Earll, Courtney Earll, Meghan (Thad) Meister and their children Laken, Landree, and Theo, Ashley (Josh) Vestal and their children Riley and Sutton, Tom (Carissa) Anderson and their children Cohen, Baylor, and Ledger, and Chase (Colleen) Anderson and their children Everly and Warren; brother, John (Beverly) Frislie, Canton, SD; along with many extended friends and family.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don; grandson, Ryan; and brother, Don.

    Marcia, John and Gary. So sorry for the lose of your Mother. I didn’t know her very well, but my Mother always spoke so well of her. Especially at the gatherings at church. Always had to let me know what her and “Dotty” had done or talked about that day. I know she thought of “Dotty” as a good friend. She must have been a good mother, just look how great you kids turned out. Again so sorry. Love and Hugs for all.

    I am so incredibly sorry entire Anderson family for this great loss. Dottie always had a special place in my heart as her God daughter. Enjoyed her when living in Canton and our phone conversations during the last years of her life. What a dear soul. May you find comfort in the loving arms of her Savior.
