Donald Lovaas

Visitation: Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Canton, with family present from 6 to 8:00 p.m.

Service: His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at Canton Lutheran Church.

Lovaas Paper pic         Donald Loren Lovaas, 72, died Friday, October 20, 2017, at Alcester Care and Rehab Center in Alcester, SD.  His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at Canton Lutheran Church.  Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Canton, with family present from 6 to 8:00 p.m.

        Don was born May 30, 1945 in Canton, SD to Elvin and Anna (Josal) Lovaas.  He attended Highland Center Grade School and Canton Public Schools.  He was a meat cutter for Cub Foods in Minneapolis for many years.  He retired in 1998 and lived in Canton and Sioux City, IA.  Don always took great pride in his home and enjoyed tending his garden and flowers and feeding the birds.  He had a great wit and sense of humor about him. He had fun with everyone he met. And he was always there for anyone that needed a helping hand whether it be a meal or opening his home to someone who needed a place to stay. He will be greatly missed by all.

      Don is survived by his sister, Alice Leimbach, Sioux Falls, SD, his twin brother, David (Marge) Lovaas, Sioux Falls, SD, brother-in-law, Albert Knorr,  and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Lillian Jervik, Nila Hamburg, and Sonja Knorr.
