Cynthia Lynn Thies, age 68, died peacefully in her home on Feb 25, 2024 after a battle with cancer.

Cynthia Lynn Thies was born April 8, 1955 to Agnes and Harold Thies in Canton, South Dakota. Cynthia graduated from Canton Public HS in 1973. She obtained her bachelor degree in business from the University of South Dakota, and later her Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. She worked as a tax accountant for the State of Alaska and later worked in accounting and management at Boeing in Seattle, WA.

Cynthia married Kurt DeYoung, and was blessed with one son, Konrad Zachary. After retiring from Boeing in 2010, she moved from Redmond, WA to Camano Island, WA. Cynthia loved to travel but she especially enjoyed living on Camano Island where she enjoyed many island activities including crabbing, walking along the beach with her pets, and gardening.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Agnes Thies; sister, Cheryl Hofer; and brother, Gary Thies. She is survived by her son, Konrad, and brothers: Dennis Thies, Mike Thies, Brian Thies, Jim Thies, and Robert Thies; as well as many other nieces and nephews. No funeral services are planned.

    My heart was saddened to hear of Cindy’s passing. I have so many wonderful memories from high school and college with her. We certainly missed her at our 50th reunion. She is to be celebrated. Class of 1973.
