Cindy Clark, age 70, died Sunday, April 21, 2024 surrounded by her family at Ava’s House in Sioux Falls, SD.  Memorial services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at Christ Lutheran Church in Hartford, SD.  Family will greet visitors one hour prior to the service.

Cindy Clark was born in 1954 in Rapid City, SD to Henrietta and Richard Thompson. When her mother died, Richard moved his daughters Cindy and Becky back to his home in England. Cindy attended Wollaston Secondary School and met her husband Chris Clark in 1972. They had two children, Katharine and Laura, and then in 1980 moved to Hartford, SD. Cindy gave birth to another daughter Amanda in 1992. During her time in Hartford, Cindy was a homemaker, a daycare provider and a foster parent. She and Chris adopted two special needs twin brothers Richard and Brian in 1995. They moved to Canton SD in 1997. After this move to Canton, Cindy provided daycare and also worked at the Canton Elementary School helping with lunch service. Cindy (Nana) will be remembered for her giving spirit, her unconditional love and her dedication to her family. She enjoyed baking, sewing, crocheting, doing word puzzles, and most importantly seeing all her family together. Her love will be with us forever.

Cindy is survived by her husband Chris, her three daughters Katharine, Laura and Amanda and her son Brian and her three grandchildren; Hailey, Justin and Riley. Her surviving family in England includes her brother Fred Walsh (Carol), her sister-in-law Jane, other Williams family and David and Janet Williams of Johannesburg, South Africa.

She is preceded in death by her parents Henrietta and Richard Thompson, her sister Becky and her son Richard.

A memorial fund has been set up with First Bank and Trust in Canton SD to help with funeral and medical expenses.

    Chris and family,

I am so so sorry to hear of Cindy’s passing. I cannot imagine how many children she shared her heart with through all her daycare years. Cindy was Tesia’s only daycare provider and we could not have been more blessed. Cherish all your memories, as they are now treasures forever in your hearts.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

    Cindy
