Cheryl Lynn Falk, born March 4, 1947, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025, with her family by her side. Private family services will be held at a later date.
Cheryl grew up in South Tacoma, Washington, and was a proud graduate of Mt. Tahoma High School. She dedicated many years working as an accountant, first at Clover Park Vocational School and later retiring from Bates Technical School.
After retirement, Cheryl moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where she cherished every moment spent with her daughter and grandchildren. She had a special love for shopping and took great joy in spoiling her grandkids and great‑grandkids. She volunteered at the Sanford Hospital Gift Shop and worked part‑time as the beloved lunch lady at St. Mary’s Catholic School.
Most recently, Cheryl moved to Canton to be closer to her family, continuing to surround herself with the people she loved most.
Cheryl is survived by her daughter, Kelli DeJong, and son‑in‑law, Tim DeJong; her grandchildren, Zach (Atlanta) DeJong and Alex (Chloe) DeJong; and her great‑grandchildren, Aulta and Farron. She is also survived by her sister, Janine (Craig) Christensen and her brother, Rick (Mariam) Battson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Margorie Battson, and her sister, Clary (Mike) Lewis.

Christmas morning at the Battson’s the gathering place of the Halseth family. Your mom was a very sweet person and will be missed.

I have so many memories of Cheryl as I use to be a friend of Janine’s growing up. I am very sad to hear of her passing. i heard she was in the hospital and sent my prayers. My condolences to her family and friends. RIP Cheryl
