Visitation: Visitation with family present will be Thursday, March 9 from 5-8 p.m. at Canton Lutheran Church.

Service: Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 10 at the Canton High School Armory.

Bob TrummBob D. Trumm, age 14, passed away Monday, March 6, 2017.  Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 10 at the Canton High School Armory.  Visitation with family present will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at Canton Lutheran Church.

Robert David Trumm was born on August 22, 2002 to Todd and Laura (Koopsma) Trumm in Sioux Falls, SD.  His life ended abruptly on March 6, 2017 which was a shock to family, friends, and the community.  He will always be remembered by all of us in many special ways.

Bob had a zest for life, was everyone’s friend, and he could always get a laugh or smile from anyone. He could always find the positive in any situation or person.  He could strike up a conversation with anyone whether they were young or old, a stranger, or a long time friend.  He never sat still for long and loved bowling, hunting, golfing, camping, cruising with Dan and Jarrett, basketball, football, his dogs, but most of all fishing.  He was cleaning his own fish by the age of 9, running the boat by 10, and had the ability to talk fishing with the best of them. At age 12, he already had his future planned out that he was going to be a fishing guide and had researched colleges that offered fishing scholarships or bowling.  He showed a maturity beyond his years.  He will be missed most for his infectious smile and big hugs.  Till we fish again, Bob, you will be missed.

Grateful for sharing his life were his parents, Todd and Laura Trumm; sister, Alyvia Trumm; brother, Jack Trumm; grandparents, Dorothy (Dean Hooper) Trumm and Dave and Julie Koopsma; great-grandma, Margaret Koopsma; aunts, Terri Trumm and children Ethan and Gavan Cleaver, Patti (Keven) Elder and children Marcus and Taylor Pierce, Angie (Adam) McAthie and children James McAthie and Jake and Sam Thompson, and Kayla (Gary) Christensen and children, Claire and Chloe; along with numerous extended family, friends, and his “River” family.

He was preceded in death by his grandpa, Bob Trumm, Jr.; great-grandparents, Allen and Selma Hanson, Robert Sr. and Maurine Trumm,  Gilman and Edline Haugen, and Richard Koopsma.

Bob, you were one of my favorite younger kids to see around town. I cried when I heard the news. You were so easy to joke around with and always seemed old for your age, so talking to you was always more like talking to a buddy than to a young kid. I coached you in some sports camps, and loved your passion for football and basketball, you were a camp favorite of the older guys every year. You were always so respectful and nice that people were drawn to you. I’ll always remember the times when you came around the pool or when I would see all of you Trumm kids shooting hoops in your driveway. Whenever you got brought up, my dad would always talk about what a good, unique kid you were and how you had probably caught more wall-mounters than most guys his age. When i heard the news I texted him and he responded “he was a wonderful kid. Maybe one of the happiest kids I had ever seen.” You sure had a talent of connecting with people of all different ages. Rest easy pal, praying for you and your family and I hope you are doing well.

I write this with a heavy heart, not only for the loss you have experienced, but also for our own. Chris and I didn’t know Bob on a personal level but we would see him around at football and basketball games hanging around with friends, joking and laughing and just being one of the group. Bob was one of Lexi’s close friends , his name was spoken frequently at our house. Lexi always had some story to tell that usually involved Bob and Esche. One of their teachers, I think Mrs. Cwach, even called them Blondie 1 and Blondie 2.
His passing has left a hole in our hearts , and our lives. I hope you can take some comfort in knowing how much Bob was loved in this small community and how many lives he touched even if it was just in some small way. He will never be forgotten, not in the Wininger household.
May you seek comfort in our Lord, Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:1
