Visitation: Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-8 p.m., family present from 6-8 p.m., at Anderson Funeral Home in Canton.

Service: Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 5 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Fairview.

Fairview- Betty Jean Larson, age 84, died Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Sanford USD Medical Center. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 5 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Fairview.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-8 p.m., family present from 6-8 p.m., at Anderson Funeral Home in Canton.

          Betty was born on August 15, 1929 in Canton, SD to Henry and Alma (Ekle) Strand.  She attended country school and graduated from Canton High School.  She then worked at Halde Insulation prior to her marriage.  She married Art Larson on January 29, 1954 at Canton Lutheran Church.  The couple farmed near Fairview, SD.  Art died in 2011.

          She was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed playing the piano and organ and accompanying her husband at many funerals.  She also enjoyed quilting, sewing, and knitting.

          She is survived by her daughters, Sandra (Dan) Kearney, Sioux Falls, SD and Joni (Doug) Groskopf, Golden, CO; grandchildren, Dani Tryhorn, Jeni Miller and Liz Fields;  niece, Dr. Faye Fossum; nephews, Carlyle Johnson and Joel Johnson; and sister-in-law, Roma Larson, Lennox, SD.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Art; son, Craig; grandson, Tommy; brother, Neal; and  sister, Henrietta (Babe).

    My sincere sympathy. Betty was such a lovely lady. She had the gift of being a wonderful hostess. She always made everyone feel so welcome when we visited her and Art at their home. May her precious memory be blessed.
