           Arlene Jean Bjorneberg, age 71, died unexpectedly Friday, April 25, 2025 in Sioux Falls, SD.  Per Arlene’s wishes, burial of her ashes will take place at a later date.

          Arlene was born on August 23, 1953 in Tacoma, Washington to Wayne and Delores (George) McFetridge.  She graduated from Mount Tahoma High School in 1971.    She married Bruce Gustafson on August 7, 1971 in Tacoma, WA.  They lived in Washington and Ohio before moving to Canton, SD.  Melissa, Tim and Jeff were born to this union.  Bruce died in 2007.

          Arlene was united in marriage to Scott Bjorneberg on June 20, 2015.  They made their home in Sioux Falls, SD.

          In addition to raising her children, Arlene worked in housekeeping at Avera for 26 years, retiring in 2018.  Arlene loved watching the Seattle Seahawks and Canton C-Hawks.  She enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, watching her shows, humming birds, camping, and the Black Hills.  She also cherished time spent with her family, especially her two grandsons.

        Grateful for sharing her life are her husband, Scott; daughter, Melissa (Chris) Lundgren; sons, Tim (Jynna) Gustafson and Jeff Gustafson; grandsons, Braden and Noah Gustafson; sisters, Laurel (Robert) Painter and Wendy Booth (Tom Madick); brother-in-law, James Raya; along with numerous extended family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, April Jo Gustafson; sister, Carol Raya; and brother, Victor McFetridge.

    I met Arlene when I was a Housekeeper at Avera. I always enjoyed running into her and Scott while working. There was always laughter when she, Phyllis and Diane were around. I am so sad to hear about her passing and my thoughts go out to her family.
