Alma Marie “Almarie” Ingebrigtson went home Saturday morning, June 29, 2019 surrounded by family members.  Memorial services will begin at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Hudson, SD.  Visitation will be Friday from 2-7 p.m., family present from 5-7 p.m., at Anderson Funeral Home, Canton, SD. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church.

Almarie was born on October 17, 1920 in Chancellor, SD, to Joel B. and Lilly (Fenske) Strasser.  In the early 20’s the Strasser family moved to Fairview, SD, where Joel and Lilly operated the General Store.  The children, Almarie and her 3 siblings, got involved with helping in the store as they got old enough.  The General Store was the lifeblood of the local community.

In 1938, Almarie graduated from Rufus King High School in Milwaukee, WI.  She later attended business school in Milwaukee until she was called home due to her father’s illness.

Almarie met Glenn Ingebrigtson back in Fairview and was married on February 15, 1942, where they farmed until they retired.  Three children were born to this union, Lorna, Donna, and Ronald.  In 1960, Glenn and Almarie fostered a little girl, Lori, who became part of the family.  Almarie was a longtime, faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was a past Sunday School teacher, choir director and also played the organ and piano.  Glenn and Almarie also enjoyed spending winter in Texas for many years.

Almarie is survived by her 4 children: Lorna (Larry) Luecke, Las Vegas, NV, Donna Gaskin, Spring Lake, MI, Ron (Jean), Canton, SD  and Lori Heiskell, Canton, SD; 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, LaVonne Strasser; along with numerous extended relatives and friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Glenn; son-in-law Conover; great-grandson William; sisters Lillian Watne and Joan Stubbs; and brother, Joel Strasser.

Due to the closure of HWY 135 (Newton Hills Road), from the corner of US 18 and SD Hwy 11 South, please take SD HWY 11 south for 10 miles, go east 3 miles on Lincoln County Hwy 148(292nd St), then travel south ¼ mile on Lincoln County Hwy 135 to arrive at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Dear Lorna, Donna, Ron and Lori — so sorry for the loss of your mother. I feel like all the kids of Fairview Center #83 of the 50’s and 60″s have lost the last neighborhood mother. Someone who was around to help if our own mother was not there for us at any school activity. We all have lost a great and caring person. You are all in my thoughts. Again so sorry. A Hug for all.

God bless the memory of our dear friend. I am so very grateful I was able to be touched by her journey. She gave soo much of herself to others and her faith never faltered as she got up in years. One of the sweetest memories of her is her weekend at Inspiration Hills for the Cursillo. Many young women want to be like her as they get older..
