Dixie Lea Lauritzen, 66 years of age, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Dougherty Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held at 11a.m. Wednesday, June 11, at Redeemer Free Lutheran Church in Canton. Family will greet visitors Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home, Canton.
Dixie was born to Earl and Beatrice (Sturgis) Bumstead on February 15, 1948. She graduated from Maple Valley Community High School in 1966. She was united to Roger Ewoldt. From this union, three daughters were born. Dixie married Evert “Fluff” Lauritzen on December 7, 1985. They made their home in Canton where Dixie operated a daycare and worked as a cook at many establishments.
She loved playing Bunco, cards and decorating for Christmas. She loved having her grandbabies over and spending time with her daughters.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Fluff; her children- Danelle Letscher, Daneen (Jason) Gannon, and Dyan Kumlien, all of Canton; her siblings- Karen Virgil, Rochester, MN, Connie Riecks, Boca Raton, FL, and Ronald Riecks, Pocatello, ID; and her eight grandchildren- Joseph, Ariana, Dayton, Katee, Grace, Kollin, Jewel, and Cain. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Dixie was one of a kind. She always gave her soul—Her love spilled over in many facets. Her husband, her children, grandchildren, and all of her extended children… she always treateted them as her own. I met Dixie a few years after we moved to town. Dixie, with open arms welcomed our son into her house. Dixie was quickly a second mom and best friend to all of us. Both Michael and Justin as well as our entire family will never forget her. She was an amazing selfless person. Getting to know the Lauritzen family was the best thing that happened to our family. I hope the family finds comfort knowing that her suffering is over, and her light shines down…beaming…reminding all of us…to stop…and listen..Life is short. Dixie was always completely selfless. Willing to help anyone at a drop of a hat. This was one of my favorite things about her. We’ll miss her terribly-

Thinking of you all, as you celebrate Dixie’s life. She was a wonderful lady, and I really enjoyed getting to work with her while we were at Southeastern. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. May you find comfort in your memories of her.
Thank you Christi. She really loved that job.
