Visitation: Visitation at the church will be Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. with family will be present from 6-8 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.

Service: Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Canton.

Dave was born on May 19, 1941 in Larchwood, IA to Harry and Mary (Daniels) Viereck. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Larchwood, IA. He married Carol Lewis on June 24, 1961. The couple made their home in Canton. He worked for Bidwell as a machinist/welder, retiring in 2010.
Dave kept busy with woodcarving projects, hunting, and following his children’s and grandchildren’s school and sports activities. Being an outdoorsman, he enjoyed helping his farming neighbors. He also entered his ’56 Ford in many area car shows.
Grateful for sharing his life are his wife of 54 years, Carol; sons, David E. (Susan), Denver, CO and Doug (Brenda) Canton, SD; daughters, Kathy (Brian) Myers, Salina, KS, Kris (Marlon) Wiebe, Madison, SD, Kim (Jeff) McLaughlin, Houston, TX, and Karen (Steve) Hyronimus, Brandon, SD; sisters, Carol Vermeer, Hills, MN, Pauline Herman, Sioux Falls, SD, and Linda Snyders, Larchwood, IA; 18 grandchildren, Matt Rhead, Danielle Rhead, Adam Rhead, Brady Wiebe, Derrick Wiebe, Tyler Wiebe, Kari Soulek, Kyli Krouse, Mitchell Reid, Makenzi Reid, Anna Hyronimus, Luke Hyronimus, Sierra Viereck, Savannah Viereck, Ashlyn Viereck, Brooklyn Meendering, Aspen Viereck, and Royce Viereck; , 9 great-grandchildren; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

    I was so sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. Dave and I worked for Bidwell AKA K@R in the 60’s. Dave and I would argue as to would go to the bakery and get the rolls (aka biscuits) for morning coffee. I still have a arrow quiver he made for me long ago. My prayers are with you.
