Verlyn Eben, age 68, died unexpectedly Saturday, September 28, 2024. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2024 at First Reformed Church, Sioux Falls, SD. Visitation, with family present, will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, October 4, 2024 at Heritage Funeral Home, Sioux Falls, SD.
Verlyn was born on March 13, 1956 in Rock Rapids, IA to Martin and Myrna (Sprock) Eben. Verlyn graduated from George, IA High School in 1974. In 1976, he earned an associate’s degree in Engineering from NITC in Sheldon, IA. Verlyn was united in marriage to Myra Klarenbeek on October 29, 1976 in Steen, MN. The couple was blessed with two children, Adam and Andrea.
Verlyn work for 35 years at Wildcat/Vermeer Manufacturing in Freeman, SD. During his time there, he worked in engineering, parts purchasing, and as a safety coordinator.
Verlyn was an avid MN Vikings fan, loved to tell stories and dad jokes, and could fix/build anything. He loved his dogs, his Dodge Ram 1500, woodworking, and spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Payton. He also has served as an elder and deacon at Bethany Reformed Church in Canton and Arise Church in Sioux Falls.
Grateful for sharing his life are his wife of 47 years, Myra; daughter, Andrea Eben; grandson, Payton Eben; brothers, Larry (Denise) Eben and Arnie (Becky) Eben; sister, Linda Riemersma; along with numerous extended family and friends. I am so sorry for your loss. I went to church with him as a teen and graduated with him in 1974. I remember his laughter and his positive attitude. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers!
