Thomas “Tom” Raymon, age 77, died Saturday, May 27, 2023 surrounded by family at Dougherty Hospice House. Visitation, with family present, will be Thursday, June 1 from 5-7 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Canton, SD. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
Tom was born on December 5, 1945 in Madison, SD to Ellwood and Esther (Schierholz) Raymon. He grew up in Canton, graduating from Canton High School in 1964. He later earned an Associate Degree in Business from Nettleton College. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force during Vietnam.
He married Cynthia Stratmeyer on November 29, 1974 at Zion Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, SD. They made their home in Canton where they raised their children, Tim and Carla.
Tom was a jack-of-all trades who loved woodworking, being outside, playing with Carla’s dog, Bandit, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Through the years, Tom worked for an architect, was a traveling salesman, and owned and operated a mowing service. He also was a member of the Canton Planning & Zoning Board for over 30 years.
Grateful for sharing his life are his wife of 48 years, Cindy; son, Tim (Michelle) Raymon; daughter, Carla (Jeremy) Jeschke; grandchildren, Cameron, Marisa, Mason, Maverick, and Miles; great-grandchild, Taylor; brother, Robert (Lenora) Raymon; sisters, Dorothy (Clint) Egleston, Kay (Terry) Ploski, and Mary Ann (Bud) Gesaman; along with numerous extended family and friends. Tom was always a bright spot in my day. Always had a smile and laughter when we were chatting. My condolences to Cindy and the family. May God comfort you in this time of grief.
