Sharon Rose Maynard, age 70, passed away Monday, March 28, 2011 at the Canton Good Samaritan Society. A memorial service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Saturday April 2 at First Assembly of God Church in Aberdeen, SD. Private family inurnment will take place later in the day. A memorial service will also take place on Tuesday, April 5 at 2 p.m. at Resurrection of Life Fellowship Church in Canton, SD.
Sharon Rose was born May 26, 1940 to Clayton and Martha (Pautsch) Tooker in Aberdeen, SD. She graduated from Aberdeen Central High School. She married Charles Maynard on October 17, 1970 at the Aberdeen Missionary Alliance Church, Aberdeen, SD.
Sharon worked at many jobs in her life, most notably the YMCA/YWCA as a secretary and later as a foster grandmother in their daycare. In addition she was an Avon representative for many years. She also loved kids, music, playing the piano and organ, Avon products, and baseball. She was a church organist for several decades and was a former season ticket holder of the Aberdeen Pheasants. She moved to Canton, SD in 2009.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Charles, Canton, SD; sons, Mark (Krystal), Sioux Falls, SD, Bryan (Alicia), Sioux Falls, SD, and Darryn (Teresa), Canton, SD; brothers, Jim (Mavis) Tooker, Aberdeen, SD; sister, Shari (Larry) Scherbenske, Aberdeen, SD; and grandchildren, Jesse, Cora, Arianna, and Dannye. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son.
