Ronald T. Tokheim, age 74, passed away Monday, October 20, 2014 at Sanford USD Medical Center. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 1 at Heritage Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 31, from 2-8 p.m., family present 6-8 p.m., at Heritage Funeral Home.
Ronald was born on April 19, 1940 in rural Rock County, MN to George & Ruth (Shelstad) Tokheim. He graduated from Beaver Creek High School in 1958. Ronald served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 – 1962. After his discharge, he attended Stewarts School of Hairstyling. He then worked for Stewarts for several years. In 1972, he graduated from Augustana College and began working for Masterson Personnel, Inc. in Minneapolis, MN.
Ronald married Diane Kay Reding on October 7, 1978 in Sioux Fall, SD. The couple made their home in Golden Valley, MN. They returned to Sioux Falls in 1983 when Ronald took a job with the Dept. of Social Services. Diane died on October 27, 1992. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.
Ronald is survived by his son, Andrey (Shiva) Jahandideh and their children, Kia and Shervin; sisters, Ivona Sandnes, Canton, SD and Cherrice (Loren) Ehrich, Forest City, IA; brothers, Gerald, Viborg, SD and Marvin, Worthington, MN ; along with several nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Diane; brother-in-law, John Omar Sandnes; nephew, John Ole Sandnes; great-nephew, Nathan Sandnes; and in-laws, Mr. & Mrs. Reding.
So sorry to hear of Ron’s passing. I met him when I also worked for Social Services. He was always pleasant to work with and also had a story to tell to make you smile. He will be missed by many. My prayers are with your family.
