Mona Gorman, age 74, died peacefully Thursday, May 30, 2024 surrounded by her family at Dougherty Hospice House. A Celebration of Mona’s Life will begin at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Canton United Methodist Church. Visitation, with family present, will be Monday, June 3 from 5-7 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Canton. Memorials may be directed to the Dougherty Hospice House.
Mona was born on September 4, 1949 in Canton, SD to Leuis and Helen (Armstrong) Gordy. She was raised in Canton and graduated from Canton High School in 1967. She was united in marriage to Craig Crawford. Chris and Cari were born to this union. The couple lived in Omaha briefly before returning to Canton. On May 16, 1978, Mona married John Gorman. Jessica was born to this union.
In addition to raising her family, Mona spent 21 years at Citibank. She also bartended, worked at Casey’s, and most recently worked at Keystone Treatment Center. Mona was a great mom and grandma who loved her family deeply. She was the glue that held her family together. Mona had a giving soul and loved helping people. She enjoyed collecting pig figurines and lighthouses. She loved taking motorcycle rides and cruising in their ’64 Impala convertible. She was a longtime member of Canton United Methodist Church where she was active in Chi-Alpha.
Mona is survived by her husband of 46 years, John; son, Chris (Carsa) Crawford; daughters, Cari Andera and Jessica (Jason) Gorman; sister Rhonda Gordy (Nancy Stonefield); grandchildren, Eric Stratmeyer, Seth Crawford, Trey Crawford, Keegan Andera, Allen Baker, Jeffery Severson, Kaitlyn Crawford, Maddy Crawford, and Craig Crawford; 13 great-grandchildren plus two arriving soon; along with numerous extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Ronald and Leland.

John and family, I am so sorry to hear of Mona’s passing. I worked with her at Citi for several years, she was such a great person. The world as lost a great light, but remember all of you carry that light with in you to shine brightly to others.
