Lynda Standley, age 80, died unexpectedly Friday, September 22, 2023 at the Sanford USD Medical Center ER. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 30, 2023 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Canton, SD. Lynda was born on November 9, 1942 in Washington, Indiana to Louis and Dorothy (Wilson) Daily. She graduated from Washington Catholic High School in 1960. She married John Standley on February 16, 1963 in Washington, Indiana. The couple made their home in Washinton, Indiana until moving to Canton, SD in 1976. Barbara, Mark, Brad and Douglas were born to this union.
In addition to raising her children, Lynda enjoyed quilting, traveling back to Indiana to visit family, and playing euchre. She loved her family deeply and cherished time spent with her kids and grandkids, especially going to her grandchildren’s activities. Lynda and John were also very active in the Canton Optimist Club. They enjoyed dressing up as Mr. & Mrs. Claus and helped run the Easter egg hunt. They also helped with countless activities that include the Christmas parade, bingo nights, and carnivals. She was a longtime member of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church.
Lynda is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 60 years, John; children, Barbara (Dominic) Jones, daughter in law Edna Padilla(Jorge Munoz), Brad (Cristen) Standley, Douglas (Jessica) Standley and grandchildren, Derek Jones(Darci), Carrie Bowman(Andrew), Justin Jones(Danielle Schmidt), Austin Jones(Autumn Scheel), Michael Standley(Kelly), Kyle Standley(Brittany), Jacob Standley, Joey Ramirez, Dakota Standley(Jorge Juarez), Desiree Standley(Daniel Dye), Maddox Standley and Keaton Standley; 8 great-grandchildren, Dawson, Reese and Harper Jones; Emery and Theo Bowman; Jayden Ramirez; Ezra Juarez; Liam Standley; 2 great-grandchildren coming soon; brothers, Dan (Melodie) Daily and John (Peggy) Daily; sisters, Phyllis Daily, Bonnie (Mark) Jones, Mary Daily, and Christina Sipes; along with numerous extended relatives and friends. Linda was such a nice lady, both her and John were always warm, friendly and kind people to me.
I remember their son Mark as a good friend and was one of my main wrestling partners in school. Heartfelt memories and sincere condolences to all of the Stanley family.
