Linwood “Woody” Schroder, age 90, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 surrounded by his family at his home in Tea, SD. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Tea, SD. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. www.andersonandsonsfh.com
Woody was born in a small hospital in Sioux Falls, SD on December 7, 1934 to Paul and Aletta (Bjelland) Schroder. He grew up in Sioux Falls, graduating from Washington High School in 1952. He later attended Augustana and Sioux Falls College. Woody also served his country in the US Army.
While helping build a bowling alley he met his future wife, Barb Sweeter. The couple was married on August 20, 1965. The couple lived in Lennox until moving to Tea, SD in 1967 where they raised their 3 children, Lynette, Stacie and Bob.
Through the years, Woody worked a variety of jobs. He worked the longest at the SD State Penitentiary, loved driving bus for Jack Rabbit, and most recently worked security at Tallgrass. Woody was also a former Tea City Cop and Mayor of Tea.
In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, and playing cribbage, pinochle, and cards. He was an avid MN Vikings and Twins fan and loved playing softball in his younger years. He cherished time spent with his family, especially attending his kids and grandkids activities. He was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he sang in the church choir and cantata.
Woody is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barb; children, Lynette Schroder, Stacie (Mike) Davis, and Bob (Brenda) Schroder; granddaughter/daughter, Abbie (Kaylon) Kahler; grandchildren, Nikki Schroder, Makayla Schroder, Liana Schroder, Zach (Brigitt) Schroder, Nate (Kennady) Schroder, and Alec Davis; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Sherrlyn Garrow and Karla Hill; along with numerous extended relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edwin; in-laws, Elmer and Bernice Sweeter; and brothers-in-law, Garland Sweeter and Shorty Garrow.

Woody was a great man I worked with him at Tallgrass for 14 years and he would always give me fish. I always think of him when I think of working at Tallgrass. May God bless your family and my prayers are with you. I’m not able to attend the funeral but I will always will remember him. My condolences to you.
