Canton- LaDonna J. Olson, age 83, passed away Friday, January 18, 2013 at Good Samaritan Society in Canton. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Tue., Jan. 22 at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Canton with burial to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Mon. from 1-4 pm. at Anderson Funeral Home. Visitation will resume from 6-8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. scripture service, at St. Dominic’s.
LaDonna was born August 17, 1929 in Sioux Falls, SD to Nicholas and Nellie (Souvignier) Hanson. LaDonna graduated from Canton High School in 1947. She married Ray Olson on October 9, 1950 in Sioux Falls, SD. The couple made their home in Sioux Falls for 15 years before returning to Canton in 1965. They made their home on an acreage north of Canton.
LaDonna worked as a bookkeeper for her husband’s business, Olson Plumbing, until his death in 1983. She was a member St. Dominic’s Catholic Church and a past member of the Sons of Norway. She enjoyed playing cards, especially whist. In addition, she enjoyed bowling, cooking, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.
LaDonna is survived by her sons, Brian (Donna), Sioux Falls, Craig (Cheryl), Sioux Falls, Daniel (Diane) Lucas, TX, and Wayne (Lori) Schaumburg, IL; daughter, Linda Kudrna, Hay Springs, NE; sister, Carolyn (Cletus) Schuttloffel, Sioux Falls; 14 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; brothers, Donald and Selmer; and grandson, Michael.
Our sympathy to all of you on the death of your mother. Lowell and I spent many fun hours with your mom and day when Lowell was working with your dad. She will be missed. God bless you.
