Kristi M. Vande Vegte, age 42, died Thursday, April 6, 2023 surrounded by her family at Sanford USD Medical Center. A Celebration of Kristi’s Life will begin at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 11 at Bethany Reformed Church in Canton, SD. Visitation, with family present, will be Monday from 5-7 p.m. at Bethany Reformed Church.
Kristi was born on April 24, 1980 in Orange City, IA. She graduated from M-OC/Floyd Valley High School in 1998. She later attended and graduated from Iowa Lakes Community College.
She married Jason Vande Vegte on April 6, 2002 at Alton Reformed Church in Alton, IA. She worked in animal health until becoming a stay-at-home mom to her daughters, Allison, Kylie and Leah.
When she wasn’t running the household, she could be found tending to her animals, gardening, and spending time outdoors. She also enjoyed canning, quilting and making homemade soups, soaps, jellies, and gifts. She treasured time spent with her family, especially her girls. She was a member of Bethany Reformed Church in Canton.
Grateful for sharing her life are her husband of 21 years, Jason; her daughters, Allison, Kylie and Leah; parents, Kurt (Lora) Prange; brother, Keith Prange; in-laws, Doug (Wanda) Vande Vegte; brothers & sisters-in-law, Mark (Allison) Vande Vegte, Matt (Amanda) Vande Vegte, and Nick (Christina) Vande Vegte; 12 nieces and nephews; grandparents, Norm (Dorothy) Prange; along with numerous extended relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Derwood and Carol Getting.

I had the privilege of working with Kristi at CSC High Plains and Webster/Patterson Vet Supply for a few years. She was sweet, kind, funny and just a pleasure to be around. Truly a pure heart and soul. My heart goes out to Jason and the girls. May God comfort you all and give you His peace.
Kristi left a huge void in our lives, but now a bright light in heaven. She was truly one of a kind… sweet, caring, and nurturing mother.
