Joyce Maxine (Fiegen) Richter was born December 30, 1927 in Dell Rapids, SD the eldest daughter of Jennie (Anderson) Fiegen and John Fiegen. Joyce attended school and grew up in the Dell Rapids area on various farms. After high school, Joyce joined the cadet nursing corp and graduated from McKennan School of Nursing.
Joyce was united in marriage to Earl Richter of Madison, SD on June 13, 1950. Joyce was a practicing nurse for a few years before dedicating her time to raising their six children. During their marriage, Earl’s career took them throughout South Dakota, eventually settling in Canton, SD for 40 years. Joyce was an active member of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church and a past Altar Society president. Joyce enjoyed volunteering in the community.

My deepest sympathy to the family of Joyce. She was a classmate at St. Mary’s and a good friend. But in the past few years I haven’t been in contact. She will be at peace now after suffering so long. God bless her and all her family.
To Joyce’s family:
We were saddened to hear of Joyce’s passing. Thinking of you and praying for your strength, peace, and comfort.
With deepest sympathy,
Ruth (resident at Prince of Peace) and Marla (Ruth’s daughter)
Our love and sympathy to the whole Richter
family. Joyce was a lovely friend, neighbor and
bridge player! It will always be “The Richter House!”
We are with my twin sister who is making her
journey or we would have been with you in
person. Peace and love to each of you.
