Jim was born on January 13, 1961 in Elmhurst, IL to Daryl and Loretta (Welch) Halling. The family lived in IL until moving to Canton, SD in 1965. Jim graduated from Canton High School in 1979 and later attended SDSU. He married Dawn Landegent on May 27, 1994 in Inwood, IA.
Jim had a passion for sports throughout his life. He not only excelled at playing all types of sports but also loved watching and coaching sports, especially his children’s teams. He also enjoyed playing in golf tournaments and looked forward to his annual guy’s golf trip.
When not attending his children’s activities, watching college basketball, or rooting for the Nebraska Huskers, Jim worked for Luverne Truck Equipment, now Lippert, for over 33 years.
Jim will be remembered for his love of family, his strong work ethic, and for being a genuine, matter-of-fact type of guy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Dave; infant sister, Gail Louise; and father-in-law, Case Landegent.
So sorry to hear this about Jim. I always enjoyed watching him at the Harrisburg soccer games . Courtney and Darien playing and both of us cheering them on. Prayers and thoughts to his family.
To the family of Jim, I had known your father for 20 years. Your father started out as a client and quickly became a friend. I know the loss of your father hurts tremendously, but know that he was loved by so many people. I had the privilege of having lunch with your father recently and he would always talk about each of his kids with a huge proud smile of each of you. Always remember he is never gone and that he lives within each of you; it helps to speak his name everyday and never let his smile and laugh leave you. From my family to each of you, love and prayers!
Sending deepest sympathy to the family.
Thank you and bless you dear Nancy.
