Hazel (Markle) Aasheim passed away Monday, November 21, 2011 at the Canton Good Samaritan Center at the age of 98 years.
Born March 4, 1913 in Webb City, MO, Hazel was part of a large family, which made its way to South Dakota in 1921. In 1934 she married Lloyd Aasheim of rural Canton, and made her home on the farm, which was a way of life that she enjoyed. She was an excellent homemaker, gardener, and cook, with a knack for making lefse, which she handed down to her family.
Grateful for having shared her life are sisters Betty Severson, Maxine Bresee, Lucille Eliason, and brother Don Markle. Preceding her in death were her husband Lloyd in 1982, sisters Gertrude McFarlane, Dorothy Eliason, Mabel Eidsheim, Lura Jones, and brothers Cecil and Guy Markle.
Hazel’s son Dennis and daughter-in-law Rae, gave her three grandchildren, Rod (Ann) of Sioux Falls, Eric (Rachel), of Beresford, and Emily (Steve) Plucker, of Canton. She was blessed with a number of great-grandchildren, as well.
