Dorothy Ralfs, age 89, died Thursday April 22, 2021 at the Canton Good Samaritan Society. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 27 at Anderson Funeral Home in Canton, SD. Dorothy was born on May 26, 1931 in Nobles County, MN to Albert and Reka (Uphoff) Baerenwald. She attended rural schools in Rock County, MN and Lyon County, IA. She married Harold “Harry” Ralfs on September 5, 1950 in Luverne, MN. The couple lived in Luverne until moving to Canton, SD in 1962. Dorothy enjoyed baking, reading romance novels, soap operas, sewing, and polka dancing. Dorothy loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She cherished Thursday family nights, daily phone conversations with her kids, and family Christmas.
She is survived by her children, Steve, Canton, SD, Jeannie (Teddy) Haislip, Canton, SD, Karen Ralfs, Omaha, NE, Sandra (Noel) Person, Sioux Falls, SD and Rick, Canton, SD; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; along with numerous extended relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Harry; her parents, and brothers Frank and Albert, Jr “Bud”.
