Dean Michael Johnson, 65, died on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at his home in Milledgeville, Georgia. A celebration of life will begin at 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, March 29th, 2024 at Gate City Events in Canton, SD.
Dean Michael Johnson was born on June 13, 1958 in Sioux Falls, SD to John “JR” Johnson and Betty Ann Johnson. He grew up in Sioux Falls and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1976.
Dean worked for 36 years as a service manager for Bid-Well Terex in Canton, SD. During Dean’s time at Bid-Well Terex, he was able to travel to many different countries around the world and instruct how to use the paving machines that Bid-Well sells. Dean was also a volunteer fire fighter for the Canton Fire Department for over 20 years and loved socializing with his friends at The Wheel. Dean was a character, and many people loved his fun and carefree attitude. In his younger years, Dean loved to hunt and fish, preferably bow hunt for deer. He lost his love for hunting and brought on his love for all animals. Dean loved his dogs and will be happily reunited with two of them.
Dean is survived by his partner, Kristine Cash, Milledgeville, GA; two children, Michael (Kati) Johnson, Harrisburg, SD, Justin Johnson, Brookings, SD; granddaughter, Sawyer Johnson; siblings, Jerry (Roxi) Johnson, Sioux Falls, SD, Steve (Kris) Johnson, Sioux Falls, SD; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, John and Betty Johnson; and brother, Gregg Johnson.
Our sympathy to my cousins family. I have lots of good early childhood memories of family gathering, especially Thanksgiving at his parents home.
Awe Dean what a great guy, so sorry for the loss of this soul! So glad to have met your heart in this crazy world. You made a difference
Oh Deano, you were loved. You are the Godfather of my first son, and you were my best friend for years. May you rest in hallelujah, and I will see you when I cross the bridge. To your family God Bless you and I’m so sorry for your loss.
Oh so sad he was such a fun, kind guy.
My deepest condolences to all in your time of grieving.
You are in my thoughts and am sending healing energy.
Light, Love and Peace
