Service: Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 30 at Springdale Lutheran Church, rural Sioux Falls, SD with burial in the church cemetery.
Dale Gilbertson, age 85, died Saturday, November 25, 2017. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 30 at Springdale Lutheran Church, rural Sioux Falls, SD with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-8 p.m., family present 6-8 p.m., at Anderson Funeral Home in Canton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Canton Senior Citizen’s Center Building Fund.
Dale was born on February 3, 1932 in Sioux Falls, SD to Gilmore & Nora (Evenson) Gilbertson. He graduated from Canton High School in 1950 and South Dakota State University in 1954. He was united in marriage to Elaine Baumiller on June 10, 1956. The couple lived their entire married life on a farm near Harrisburg.
Dale & Elaine farmed for several years near Harrisburg before starting Dale’s Feed Service in 1981. After retiring in 1995, Dale delivered parts part-time for Sturdevant’s. Elaine passed away in 2004.
Dale was an active member of Springdale Lutheran Church, was a former member of the Harrisburg School Board, and enjoyed spending time at the Canton Senior Citizen’s Center. Dale loved visiting with people.
Grateful for sharing Dale’s life are his three children- Carol (Brad) Hamburg of Sioux Falls, Keith (Brenda) Gilbertson of Chamberlain, SD, and Craig (Laura) Gilbertson of Larchwood, IA; 9 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 5 step great-grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law; along with several nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Elaine, and one granddaughter.
Our sympathy is extended to all of Dale’s family. He will be missed by many here at Springdale.

Carol, Keith ,Craig sorry to hear of your dads passing there are so many fond memories of him helping out my Grandparents and the family. When someone would go somewhere I would come to your place and help and the corner road will always be Gilbertson corner or “fff” corner it was always fun to visit with him and when Elaine passed we talked about plucking chickens and you can add me on Facebook
