Craig was born November 20, 1956 in Canton, SD, to Arthur and Betty (Strand) Larson. He grew up on the farm and attended Fairview Center District # 83 country school. Craig graduated from Canton High School in 1975. While in school, he farmed with his father and worked at Farmers Elevator in Canton. He also helped his neighbor’s farm and milked cows. Craig continued working at Harvest States Elevator and later became manager at elevators in Harrisburg, Viborg, and Hawarden. He most recently was district manager at Farmers Coop Elevator in Rock Valley. He enjoyed woodworking, electronic gadgetry, computers, and simulated flying. Craig took great pride in restoring his father’s John Deere 70 tractor. Playing the piano in his younger years helped Craig develop a great love of piano music.
Craig is survived by his daughters, Jeni and Liz; several grandchildren; his mother, Betty; sisters, Sandra (Dan) Kearney, Sioux Falls, SD and Joni (Doug) Groskopf, Golden, CO; niece, Dani Tryhorn; aunts, Roma Larson and Velma Johnson, both of Lennox, SD; cousins, Faye Fossum, Canton, SD Carlyle Johnson, TX, Maynard Johnson, Lennox, SD, and Joel Johnson, CA; and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Art, and his nephew, Thomas “Tommy” Tryhorn.
Our Thoughts and Prayers are with all of you in this time of sadness. Greg was an awesome young man and will truly be missed by all.
I am so sorry to hear this sad news. Craig was a classmate, and former co-worker at the elevator in Canton. He was a lot of fun and very thoughtful. I pray for peace for his family in dealing with his loss. Tanna
Sandy, Joni and Betty, I was deeply saddened to hear of Craig’s passing. My memories of all the time that was spent at your house during high school and spending time with your family are good ones, May God’s grace be with you now as you go this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Joan
I am so very sorry to hear of Craig’s death.
My husband Dennis was the manager in Viborg and became friends with Craig while Craig managed the elevator in Canton and even before when Ron managed in Canton and Craig worked for him. My husband died at the age of 56 from cancer 10 years ago. A little while after Dennis died, they hired Craig here to manage the elevator.
My sympathies to his family. Craig was a good man with a big heart and an infectious laugh. May he rest in peace.
