Carolyn Guenther, age 80, died Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society Canton. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 16 at Anderson Funeral Home in Canton. Family will greet visitors one hour prior to the service.
Carolyn was born on May 15, 1938 to Robert and Minda (Oien) Crowell. She graduated from Garretson High School and later attended Central Arizona College. She was an Administrative Assistant for the Casa Grande Police Department for many years. After moving to Canton, SD, she volunteered at Love, Inc., worked for the Canton Senior Center, and delivered papers for the Argus Leader.
In addition to raising her 4 children, Carolyn enjoyed dancing, bowling, and traveling, especially her Alaskan cruise and trip to Europe. She always put her kids first and rarely missed a concert or sporting event.
Grateful for sharing her life are her children, Larry Guenther, Spokane, WA, Debbie Guenther, Panama City, FL, Gordon Guenther, Phoenix, AZ and Loren Guenther, Eloy, AZ; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Gerald Crowell; along with numerous extended relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and infant son, Glenn.
Carolyn was a classmate of mine at Garretson High School. She was a quiet person, and her personality was the best. She was very smart, a petty gal, always pleasant to visit with, and I thought she worked hard and didn’t complain. I got to know her better after high school; wished I could have known her better while in school. My sympathy goes to her children and also to brother Gerald.
