Beverly was born on February 15, 1937 in Canton, SD to Oliver and Retter (Thorson) Breen. She lived her entire life in the Canton area. She married Marinus “Arie” Hilt on June 6, 1958.
She worked for many years at the Canton Good Samaritan Center in the dietary department. She always requested Wednesdays as her day off so she could work at the Canton Livestock Sale Barn in the café. She treasured the friends she worked with over the years.
Beverly loved life on the farm. She was forever thankful to her parents for buying the farm and remodeling the old farm house, making it a HOME. Beverly’s hobby was embroidery. Her family has been blessed with many embroidery gifts, as Beverly spent hours stitching her artwork.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, her parents, sister Janice Breen, 2 infant children, and brother-in-law, Raymond.
Grateful for sharing her life are her three children: Charlotte Farnsworth, Julie Oppold (Bill Knutson) all of Canton and Dale (Joanne) Hilt of Sioux Falls; 8 granddaughters; 20 great-grandchildren; 6 step great-grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; in-laws, John Hilt, Charlie (Pearl) Hilt, Greta Hilt, and Betty (Ken) Garcia all of Canton; along with many nieces and nephews.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canton Good Samaritan Center.
